More autumn colour

10/23/2020 //  by Michelle//  6 Comments

I am not sure what this glorious yellow tree is, but isn’t it wonderful. Leaning down the slope onto the Kenwood Lawns.

Looking up that slope to the beech avenue and the upper lawns,  there is a fine leaf carpet.

And just turn slightly to your left and there are Henry Moor’s Seated figures gazing out over the lawns to the lake while soaking up yesterday afternoon’s delightfully warm sun. I am sure they found it most welcome after the downpours of the previous day.

Turning back to the house, the huge magnolia which is laden with waxy white flowers in the spring, is now putting on a burst pale greeny yellow before packing up for the winter.

Heading back to the house, I came across this very unusual conifer – or at least evergreen – or even is it?…. I have never seen one change colour so maybe its leaves are going to fall? Maybe it is something quite different?…

Then back onto Hamsptead Lane and these delicate silver birches twinkling against the blue sky at the side of the Highgate School sports fields.

And finally, the entrance gates to my very grand neighbours at Beechwood.
