Before we leave the azaleas and the handkerchief tree I wanted to show you the tree in all its rather over shadowed architectural glory….
And another view of the lawns in front of the house that roll down to the lake…
…and indeed, the lake itself, lying still and dark at the bottom of the hill, reflecting the lush trees and the occasional rhodenendron that line its banks.
I walked down the side on the lawns towards the woods – and I apologise for the precipitate cut off to your walk but my phone is currently rebelling and demanding that I offload its contents to the iCloud before it will do any more.

At the bottom of that path you find yourself in the dappled shade of KenWood….
….and through the more open woods…
…. into the meadows which surround the park itself. Their grass was lush and green – untrodden for two months – unlike the very well trodden grass over the rest of the heath.
And finally I worked my way back round to the house via the trio of massive copper beeches behind which nestles the model dairy which gave so much pleasure to Lady Mansfield 200 years ago.
