Who noticed the typo in yesterday’s heading? Well, Jackie did – but I thought it seemed so apposite in these COVID-ridden days, that I would leave it!
It was mid afternoon by the time I got out today and although pleasant, it was not nearly as nice as early in the morning. As a result, you are not getting a walk today but two mini birdsong clips. One very tuneful one from yesterday morning…

And one rather less attractive one from this after noon! A very determined crow and the dreaded parakeets!
Meanwhile, have you ever heard of clay ponds? They are ponds lined not with plastic but with natural clay – a very green and environmentally friendly, if rather hard work, way to create a pond. See this post from Forest Garden Wales or this one on FlowerPotMan for more about what they are and how to build one.

This is a clay pond on the heath, now well established. But some seven or eight years ago when it was being created, I used to visit it regularly with my late lamented friend David Fleming – who knew a thing or two about clay ponds. At the time, it seemed that the heath pond builders were less skilled as every time they relined it they got it just slightly wrong and, much to David’s amusement, the next time we passed by, it had drained dry again!
And, also from yesterday, another of those spectacular architectural trees.
