I was lucky enough to hit the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan both in spring and two days after a storm and lots of rain – so I got a really lovely showing of the springtime flowers. I have absolutely no idea what any of them are – beyond the rather handsome patch of nettles – so if anyone has any suggestions, I would-be very appreciative! Otherwise – just enjoy…..
Although the little black bobbles on this bush look like seed head they actually were tiny flowers.
This was in one of the ravines where we also found a number of white brooms.
These grasses look as though they might have been there a while but the tiny little mauve flower in the foreground had just appeared.
And here is that little mauve flowered plant hanging into a crack in the rocks.
This one, also clinging in the crack in the rocks, is I believe, a caper…
And here is a fine patch of nettles in the ravine….
But my favourite definitely remained the tiny purple and white flowers that had popped up all over the sand creating a light mauve haze over all.
