And lest anyone should think that all the action was up here in London, my good friend Sarah Stacey just sent me these images from deepest Dorset.
What is that amazing web around those buds?
And here are her two elegantly retired horses, Keats and Big Boy, bonding after what looks like a rather good roll in the mud – of which I understand there is still plenty in Dorset! Sarah says that horses always groom each other – a great way to help each other remove insects, lice and any other nasties that may have taken up residence in their fur.
And finally……….
Looks seriously yummy, Sarah – but what is it?
‘Wild garlic pesto! With walnuts and pine nuts – very very pungent but delish. We had it for supper – layers of beetroot, mozzarella, pear, walnuts, lots of olive oil and lemon, then dobs of the pesto on top.’ Now that really sounds good….

Sheep wool around brambles and wild garlic pesto! Ah, the rural mysteries…
