At 8.30 this morning the sun was back, albeit only briefly, but for long enough for me to nip down my ‘private path’ to the heath – and what did I find, peeping through the carpet of sleeping celandines…
A single fritillaria, nodding its plum and white speckled petals in their bell-like flowers in the early morning breeze. How did it get there? It was the only one. Did someone drop a bulb out of their pocket on the way home? Anyhow, there it was.
The big white magnolia is, amazingly, already almost over but further back on the lawns are two massive pink trees, their furled buds on the point of exploding….
And just tucked in behind this one, a smaller but still fabulous magnolia stellata –
We are promised a nice weekend so what might I find tomorrow?…
