Newsletter, blogs and awards…

09/05/2010 //  by Michelle//  1 Comment

For those who might be wondering where their Foods Matter newsletter had gone – it is on its way – but the ISP upgrade we were doing last week has involved changing the newsletter programme as well. So although this weekend’s newsletter has indeed gone out, it has failed to circumvent many of your anti-spam prgrammes as successfully as the old one, so we currently have around 600 ‘returned as spam’ messages in our in box!!

So apologies to those of you who have not yet received a newsletter – you will. And apologies to those of you who already have – you will probably get a second one….. Hopefully all will be sorted by the time of the next newsletter in two weeks time.

Meanwhile,  can I point you in the direction of three excellent blogs – one of which also pops up in the newsletter, the other two belonging to our good friend nutritionist Micki Rose and to nut-allergic Ruth Holroyd whose story and whose excellent ‘allergy action plan’ are both to be found on foodsmatter.com.

Ruth’s blog charts the life of a nut-allergic and is filled with useful experiences, advice, product suggestions and good cheer. And she is keen! She manages to blog very regularly – which is more than can be said of yours truly at the moment… You can also follow Ruth on Twitter – @WhatAllergy

Micki, as all foodsmatter.com visitors will know, is a mine of information and advice on all things nutritional and to do with the skin. A multi-intolerant herself  (see her ‘Diary of a food intolerant’) she runs the Pure Health Clinic in Warwickshire from whence appears an excellent blog on which she posts regularly on all the above topics, plus many more. Alternatively, you can sign up to get all of her blogs as a monthly newsletter. Massively informative – and good fun.  Incidentally, if you do not live anywhere near Warwick, Micki also does consultations by phone, by Skype and by email – very helpful for those who are unable to travel or for whom schlepping to Warwick is impractical.

The last blog has nothing, directly at least, to do with allergy/intolerance – it has to do with Camel Cheese!! Since this could take a while to explain – I shall just point you in the direction of the article – which is graced by one of Cartoonist Christopher’s finer creations!

As a further excuse for my dilatory blogging – I am delighted to be able to announce that, having opened the 2011 FreeFrom Food Awards last week, we have already received our first entries!  We are looking forward to finalising the sponsorship for this year’s awards during September, ready for a big launch next month… Watch this space.

Meanwhile, off to Bristol next weekend of the presentation of the 2010 Organic Food Awards… It’s all go!
