What an amazing tree. I think it must be a maple but I have never seen a tree turn from dark green to golden red branch by branch like this.
Here is one of the redder branches….
and here a delicate pale yellow and pink.
This multi coloured tree was down by the lake at the bottom of the sweeping lawns below Kenwood House; the rich burgundy maple below as in the Kenwood kitchen gardens.
And this mass of flame was in someone’s front garden in Ingram Avenue – and I nearly caused a pile up as I screeched to halt so that I could photograph it.
The change has been very sudden as only two days ago everything was still green. Long may it last?….

What a spectacular sight, the colours on the Maple, if that’s what it is. Once when I was in the U.S. I went to New England to witness ‘The Fall’ and wondered why we didn’t get Autumns like that here. Does Nature change or maybe I never had time, or a super recorder like Michelle, to witness our Old England ‘Fall’ .

I think it is all to do with climate, Nella – although I am afraid that I am very vague about what to do with climate! However, they also have a great number of maple trees and maples re certainly the ones for spectacular colours.
