This morning, Tuesday, was brilliantly sunny so I set off early onto the the heath, meeting another new little white bell flower on my way down ‘my’ path. Any ideas as to what it might be?

I thought I would just check that Kenwood, seen distantly through the trees, was still closed.

So I was very excited to see the gates open…. But sadly it was only to let the tree trimming trucks through.

However I the stopped to chat – at a safe distance, obviously – with the gate opener who turned out to be one of the head gardeners at Kenwood. She told me that they were using the virus closure to get ahead with their annual tree trimming. But she felt very sorry for the contractors who, once they had finished at Kenwood, would have very little work – and where they were employed in the street, only got abuse from the public for being out and about at all.
She told me that, very much to my surprise, Kenwood Park only makes 1/7th of the heath: 100 acres of Kenwood, 700 acres of heath! But of course, Kenwood does have the azaleas…. But she promised me that she would be taking photographs of them, if the park was not open again by the time they were in flower, and posting them on their website, so all is not lost.
Meanwhile, further down the hill, the Boating pond was quite ethereal.

Oh, whoops…… I realise that a blog that I thought I had scheduled on Sunday never actually went out so now you are getting an overdose. Apologies!
