More wonderful tulips from Mainau. And, what I forgot to say in the last post was that you were getting this feast of tulips because I just happened to find myself on Lake Constanz a couple of springs ago with a morning to spare – and was directed onto the bus to the island – arriving, happily, as it opened so that I got all those tulips almost to myself. And how about this for a stunning pink tulip – or the green veined beauty below?
Elsewhere in the garden, which stretches over the whole of the small lake island, there were other delights such as these two gents chatting to each other on a terrace bench – or the great bug hotel below.
Or this wall of peonies (?) – not to mention the orchid house, this yellow beauty being only one among many.
And then back to the tulips…..
Mainau is closed right now thanks to COVID and even when it reopens, travel may be limited so unless you are reading this in Switzerland, you are not going to be able to go anytime soon. But then, since the tulip sason is effectively now over for this year, this may not be as great a deprivation as it woud have appeared. So here’s to spring 2022.
