Regent’s Park – and a kite

03/13/2021 //  by Michelle//  4 Comments

It has, on the whole, been a grey and blustery week so my second indulgent bit of socialising, with a school friend in Regent’s Park, was a bit drear. But I am delighted to say that the hellebores were totally refusing to be discouraged and were looking delightful.

Likewise these really vibrant berries/berry-like flowers – and I have no idea what either of them are.

Possibly more what you would expect from Regent’s Park, here is some of their more formal planting down by the massive herbaceous walks. In mid to late summer these are really amazing and definitely worth a visit.

But Regent’s Park is not all formal planting This is a view over the lake which winds round out of view here and ends up in a duck pond and a café.

And, of course, come June/July, there is Queen Mary’s Rose Garden, a classic English rose garden with serried ranks of well trained Hybrid Teas poitively blasting your vision with colour. But as yet they are only tender little carmine edged leaves with one random hip which escaped the gardeners’ secateurs.

Meanwhile, back on the heath, the wind was blowing a treat and this kite flyer was making the most of it.
