A reader told me the other day how much she enjoyed my/our walks – which caused me to have a little think about them. And I realised that my standard procedure was to march you, relatively briskly, through the woods and over the open heath focusing on the trees, the grasses, the undergrowth and the views but very rarely on any of the other human inhabitants. But maybe you would like to see some real people? And maybe you would rather take at least some of our walks at a rather more leisurely pace?
So yesterday evening I, very slowly, circumnavigated the boating pond, taking in (discreetly I hope) the other evening walkers and catching the odd snatch of their conversation. What I really wanted to do was to sit down and just wait for conversations to pass me, but there weren’t quite enough people around for that to work. Apart from the fact that there was a very annoying woman giving a very loud yoga class over the other side of the pond and had we stopped you would probably have had to listen to her.
Having finished with the pond, I walked up to Kenwood where I caught this rather lovely very late evening splash of sun through the trees and the ferns.
And then this morning I walked across the top of the heath and sat down to listen to the shower of acorns being spat from the oak trees. And wondered whether you might like to just sit with me for a minute or two – and do nothing….
Please let me know whether this gentler approach is to your liking – or whether I should go back to striding through the undergrowth.

Done!!

Why not do both? I think we would miss images of you hacking through the undergrowth after which you would need slowing down.

Well, I just might…..
