Swan update

11/06/2020 //  by Michelle//  2 Comments

The last time I checked in on the swans in mid October all six cygnets were present and correct but shortly afterwards the family seemed to have shrunk to two parents and only four cygnets. On the 23rd of October our very own swan watcher only saw four of them on Hampstead Pond 2.

The word on the street is that the family is now indeed down to four as one of the cygnets has flown off and completely disappeared and that a second flew off but landed in South Hill Park from whence it was taken to a vet and thence to a swan sanctuary.

Meanwhile, the remaining family seem to be making friends all round. Here they are hobnobbing with an Egyptian goose…

..and here they are, rather surprisingly, with a heron.

    Dear Michelle,

Thank you very much indeed for the little pot of kefir which arrived just now. Chandra is particularly delighted… we both send our thanks.
