Victim of the gales

07/05/2020 //  by Michelle//  2 Comments

A victim of the gale force winds that have been sweeping across the heath over the last few days, down by the boating pond. As you can see, the leaves have not even started to shrivel.

Standing firm against mere gales however were these two veteran campaigners. How many people do you think it would take to ‘ring’ this guy?

Four…. I tried. Well, I did not actually pull walkers in to assist but I measured myself round it and with fully outstretched arms it would have taken four of me. However, even he was dwarfed by his neighbour a little further up the hill. He would have needed five adults and a child to encompass him.

On the way home I was salivating over the brambles laden with blackberries but sadly they look depressingly small. All that sun may have been wonderful for them but with no rain, they never got to swell. And now they are getting all rain and no sun. How very confusing for them….

And finally just near my path off the heath I saw this bee who was also defying the winds. No way were they going to blow him off that thistle!

I’m starting to worry, now, about the blackberry crop this year …. and as a consequence my jam output!

With reason I fear. And as a primary recipient of your jam, so am I……
