It is looking slightly brighter this morning – although it feels no warmer – but yesterday was grim….
Lowering grey clouds and drizzle over the distant city, rain puddles under the seat, no one but a crow to be seen.
Down at the Men’s swimming pond it wasn’t much better. But, check out those dots in the middle. Two brave souls, deprived for so long of their daily dips, were not going to allow gale force winds and driving rain to put them off.
On the bank opposite the Queen Anne’s Lace was not to be dampened by November’s untimely return either – and the red shirted jogger certainly brought a splash of cheer.
While over on the boating pond the bull rushes looked in their element!
And then, as I was walking down Parliament Hill to Hampstead Heath Station – just outside the World Peace Garden – there was a loud creaking and rending sound and, behind me, one of the sycamores in the garden gradually tipped over across the road, coming to rest at a 45º angle leaning against a bit of sturdy iron fencing and hovering over two parked cars…..
Fortunately the tree was already leaning up hill and it was a pretty sturdy bit of fence so there it hung while I called the police and a fellow passer by called Camden. Since it did not look like falling any further there didn’t seem much else for us to do so we went about our business.
And there is still was a couple of hours later when I returned but now watched over by a fire engine!

Oh my goodness! Glad you were safe! Poor tree though.
